Introduction of K9 Glass
K9 glass is a kind of glass product made of K9 material, which belongs to optical glass. Due to its clear and crystal appearance, it is widely used in optical coating and other fields.
The composition of K9 glass includes SiO2=69.13%, B2O3=10.75%, BaO=3.07%, Na2O=10.40%, K2O=6.29%, As2O3=0.36%. Its optical constants includes refractive index =1.51630, dispersion =0.00806, abbe number =64.06.
K9 glass has excellent performance, particularly in terms of its laser damage resistance and its direct impact on high-power laser films, especially for laser anti-reflection coatings and polarizing films. In addition, K9 glass is also used to manufacture lenses, prisms, mirrors, windows, etc. for optical instruments or mechanical systems.
K9 glass is also known as K9 crystal, where the “K” refers to the German word for “crown” (Krone), and the number 9 refers to the lead oxide content of the glass (9%). Because of its excellent mechanical properties, low bubbles and impurities, good scratch resistance and chemical stability, K9 glass is widely used in optical coating, optoelectronics, microwave technology, diffraction optical components and other fields.
All in all, as the substrate of laser film, K9 glass is a kind of optical material with excellent performance in terms of its laser damage resistance and its direct impact on high-power laser films, especially for laser anti-reflection coatings and polarizing films.
The Main Characteristics of K9 Glass
- With excellent optical properties, K9 glass is widely used in optical coating and other fields. Its optical constants refers to refractive index =1.51630, dispersion =0.00806, abbe number =64.06.
- The density of K9 glass is 2.5 ~ 2.6g/cm3, and the weight is moderate. The hardness is 5.5 Mohs, resistant to a certain degree of scratch and wear. These physical properties make it suitable for a wide range of processes, such as cutting, edging, special-shaping, drilling, coating, tempering, frosting, polishing, etc..
- The melting point is about 700℃, and it has good stability in normal use environments.
